Schmeckenfest!

What is a Schmecken? In Deutsche this means a taste or small portion. When the restaurant and meat mart started offering all kinds of unusual and exotic meats our guests said that was good. But when it came to ordering these unique items our guests were nervous. So I started the Schneckenfest. On the first Sunday of every month from 12 – 5 come taste many of these wonderful items. The price is $25 for adults $8 for teens and kids under 8 are free. Beer and Wine are sold separately.

The grills are packed full of all kinds of unusual meats and foods. Taste the bison liver and onions. Try the alligator or frog legs. How about a taste of yak, antelope or kangaroo? Did you know kangaroo is 99% lean? Cabrito is great, moose is wonderful and gruper is the best. BUT our most popular is Rattlesnake!

One of the main reasons our meat mart and restaurant started, was to provide good quality, clean, chemical free foods to people. All these fun, different and unusual foods are offered to expose people to new and healthy items for their diet and move away from their old habits of purchasing feed lot and corn fed meats and foods produced under less than “outstanding” conditions.

During the day we have all kinds of activities, also. The kids enjoy the sandbox while others love the petting zoo. Occassionally we offer pony rides, blacksmith demos and a variety of ranch demos. Live music is always the standard. Come explore, experiment and taste. We also carry these meats in the meat mart.

Our Schmeckenfest is always on the first Sunday of the month.
